“They received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” (NASB)
Done Unto You is inspired by themes from the book of Obadiah. Drawing from Obadiah’s warning against Edom’s pride, false security, violence, and betrayal, the song intentionally applies these enduring biblical themes to the church today. It explores human pride, self-reliance, wealth, and the illusion of security apart from God, confronting the ways our desires, possessions, and treatment of others reveal what rules our hearts. It reminds us that God sees and judges evil with perfect righteousness.
Yet the song does not end in condemnation: it turns toward the Lord as Savior, King, and Possessor—the One whose name embodies his faithful promises, whose judgment is sure, whose deliverance brings light, and whose kingdom will ultimately triumph over all evil.”
