“They received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” (NASB)
Consider Our Ways is a prayer of honest self-examination for individuals and the church. It recognizes the familiar pattern of confessing sin while struggling to change, and it calls us to turn again from self-rule toward wholehearted obedience to God.
Drawing especially from Haggai’s call to “consider your ways,” the song asks whether our priorities, love, and daily choices reflect the Lord’s authority and presence. It is not a claim of sinless perfection, but a prayer for mercy, repentance, and a continued Spirit-empowered walk with God as we seek his kingdom. Haggai 1:5–8, 13; Romans 6:12–23; Galatians 5:16, 25. Haggai’s original message confronted returned exiles who had neglected God’s house while prioritizing their own concerns; the song applies its broader call to examine misplaced priorities to Christian life and church community.
